Staff Member Expectations

In Server Behavior

As a staff member of the server your every actions reflects back on the server as a whole in the eyes of many members especially those who have just joined therefore, you are held to a higher standard than normal members.

Direct Messaging as a Staff Member

As a staff member, normal direct message rules do not apply to while performing your duties. Server members are allowed to message you regardless of your current direct message tag for server business only, and you are allowed to ignore direct messsage tags for server business only. If someone tries to use your postion as a staff member to harass you in direct messages please direct the situation to one of the admins, we will handle it.

Incidents involving Staff Members

If an incident occurs where a staff members is involved wether they are accused of breaking a rule, or they are a victim of a rule violation, please notify the admins we will handle it.

Handling Incidents

  1. First a warning, this can be either a verbal warning or a more formal warning using YAGPDB.
  2. After that the offender should be banned for a week.
  3. Further infractions should result in a permanent ban.

These are just guidelines any step may be skipped at your discretion as the situation calls for. If you have doubts, feel free to ask in staff chat.

Warnings

Warnings are not so much a punishment as a chance for correction. Staff issuing warnings should do their best to answer any questions the warned may have to hopefully correct the behavior. When warning a user also use the -warn command from YAGPDB so that other staff can see the warning occurred.

Warn Command

        -warn <user mention> <reason>

Bans

Bans are our main tool for punishing rule breakers. Using the YAGPDB bot we can have a high degree of control over the duration of the ban, and while these guidelines generally refer to only two ban lengths a one week ban, and a permant ban, feel free to adjust these as you feel necessary. You maybe more lenint, or strict with ban durations. Those who have been banned must be notified.

One Week Ban

One week bans are used as a last chance warning once a person has failed to correct behavior after a warning. They may be issued either through discords provided context menus, or through YAGPDB.

Permant Ban

Permant bans are a measure to be taken once a member has shown that they are not interested, or incapable of following our rules.

Ban Command

        -ban <user mention> <reason> [-d <duration>]

Duration is a number and a letter, the number specifies the number of units the ban will last. The letter the unit of time to use so 1d is one day and 1w is one week. When duration is excluded the ban is permant.

Transparency

The fact that a punishment such as a warning should be treated as a matter of public record as to assure sever members that a situation that is decreasing the quality of their stay in our server is being handled. However while the punished remains in our server we should not draw attention to the situation, and once members have been reassured that staff are handling the situation conversation should be directed away as to not cause undue discomfort to those being punished, that would only make them less likely to work to reduce the negative behavior. Anything disclosed to you during the handling of incidents is private, and should not be shared outside of the admin channels.

New members

When someone joins the server and instantly starts seriously misbehaving such as spamming the chat, or making inflammatory comments, they are most likely a troll who is intentionally breaking the rules just perma-ban them on the spot, nothing you do will make them stop.
